Pre-KG/KG - For English Medium The first effort in the series “One Book, Complete Curriculum” is in your hands. This book comprehensively covers the entire and essential Kindergarten (KG) course. Regardless of the school system being followed, this book will enable students to understand all basic and necessary topics included in the KG syllabus. Let us first share a bit of background behind the “One Book, Complete Curriculum” endeavor. As of present, there are about 270 different education systems in Pakistan and their associated curricula, through which children are taught from KG to Grade 12. Despite similar teaching objectives and SLOs, these educational systems and curricula are so different from each other that a student used to studying from one system becomes incompatible to fit into another system. Moreover, the sheer amount and weight of textbooks in a student’s schoolbag (a burden that all educational systems impose equally) make children fearful of academics from an early age. Any topic that could have been taught simply and straightforwardly is made so difficult and complicated that even very young students are forced to rely on tuitions. Consequently, education keeps getting more and more costly. Government schools are still affordable, but the substandard teaching environment in most of these schools is an open secret. It is not enough to sit back and analyze problems: taking action is imperative. As a relatively new and small-scale publishing house, we wondered what steps we could take. After considerable thought and discussions with like-minded individuals, we decided to embark on a strategy whereby each Grade would be given all teaching materials essential to that level of study in a single volume. In other words, each Grade would have just a single textbook, in which would be included the entire curriculum for that Grade. This is why we named this publishing endeavor “One Book, Complete Curriculum”, a brand that speaks for the novelty and ambition of this series of books. After putting together the basic outline for the series, we started researching the essential skills necessary for each Grade, starting with Kindergarten. After months of compiling the Pre-KG / KG book and shaping it into its final form, the first fruit of our sincere effort is in your hands. In this book, all key teaching materials regarding English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Islamiyat (Islamic Studies), Ethics, and Urdu are comprehensively and completely presented in a single volume. The teaching method is such that starting with relatively simple topics, we gradually progress to more complicated subject matter, keeping in mind the convenience of both students and their teachers. The greatest effort has been put in to ensure that all material is presented as simply as possible. You will see the same style in subsequent books in this series also. Let us also make clear that our purpose is not to start yet another educational system or curriculum. Rather, our priority is to ensure that teaching and learning should remain as straightforward and undemanding as possible, while – at the same time – generating the required skills in students at each level of study. We have taken utmost efforts to maintain a rigorous standard of teaching and content and keep the book free from mistakes. However, if you see any errors, please let us know, so that they can be corrected in future editions. Teachers are especially requested to send us their critical feedback after reading this book and using it in their teaching methods.
